Beowulf Mining – Huge iron ore deposits a political question
Rapport, the largest news program in Sweden aired on SVT, shows the huge iron ore deposit of Kallak and how it has run into some trouble with the Sami community. The deposit is worth about 50 billion crowns and growing as drilling progresses. Whether Jokkmokk Iron Mines, a subsidiary of Beowulf Mining, will obtain the required permits to commence drilling is largely a political question, and it seems that the Jokkmokk citizens are positive to start a mine while the Sami continue to show resistance in order to protect their reindeer interests.
